Default Potential Clutch issue? (3.2 02X)

Big issue hit the 3.2 manual recently. While merging onto a highway, I shifted into 2nd Gear at high rpm. Suddenly, I could not re-engage the clutch pedal, and the specific smell of burned clutch started. After trying to pump the pedal a few times, I was able to disengage it out of gear. Once we parked it on a side road, the smell of burned clutch was still there. when we restarted the car, it was able to move, but the clutch started burning again, and felt difficult to get into gear.

Now a little while later, the car can still be started no problem. But there are no leaks from what I can see, but pedal feel is soft at the top then hard at the bottom. And before this, the clutch was definitely beginning to slip (high throttle input in high gear, and slight delay/tach drops slightly). The transmission, shifting through gears while sitting, feels fine as well.

Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe clutch slave cylinder went kaput. Before this no issues at all, and I just did the trans/diff fluid change as well.

The soft pedal feel at the top and hard at the bottom that you described is indicative of a failing or failed clutch slave cylinder. I'd definitely get it inspected asap. If the slave cylinder is not functioning correctly, it can prevent the clutch from disengaging fully, causing difficulty shifting gears and the burning smell you described.
