the phone connects and works great, but i can't get the nav+ to download the numbers from the phone. I understand if it isn't compatable. Before i give up hope, i would at least like the car to tell me there is an error

What phone do you have?
I have two bluetooth phones one is a razr v3m that fully supports the phonebook upload via bluetooth and the other is a samsung a930 that only works handsfree with the NAV+, no phonebook transfer.

It also takes a while after a phone first connects before Directory is avail....
I noticed that even with my old Razr v2 (now using iPhone though, and it works fine too).

You have to load software that will turn on those features. (Updated)
I'm not a Verizon customer so I don't know the process. Just know one has to use some software to turn this feature on.
If you google this issue - I am sure you will find the process.
Here is some google seaches I found:
Hi, I too have a Lexus (a 2006 400h) and have spent the past 6 months trying to figure this out. I have a Motorola v710 and am locked into a corporate Verizon plan. My Master's thesis was in Bluetooth technology so naturally I was excited to download my phonebook and use the tech to its greatest ability. But, NOOOOOO! I did some reasearch and found that Verizon has partnered with a company named Remoba (see www.Remoba.com) to develope iPhonebook. For a monthly fee, you can download your phonebook to your PC and to your car. So, why would Verizon enable the OBEX features (which they currently disable making it impossible to download your phonebook), when they can get suckers to pay a monthly fee to do it? I think the class-action suit in California should be expanded across the country. (Any attorneys want to take this on?) Well, "good luck," (as Verizon's Customer Service reps say.) Also check out www.handsfreeforyou.com - they are only in CA but will download your phonebook for you by going to your location - since I am in NJ, they had some useful tips when I contacted them. Re: is there a way to "force" a phone book download from my phone?
i have also noticed that there is a limit to the quantity of numbers the system will recognize...I have BB Pearl which connects flawlessly...however, I can only get through 'H' in my list of people/numbers when accessing my phone list from the steering wheel controls...I-Z will not regisiter on the connection...frustrating...

yeah I hate the limit too. Mine gets to T. The question I have is how to re-sync
does it update each time you connect?
It does say please wait if I delete a few entries on my bberry, so it must.
