Airbag clock spring replacement

Update: The clock spring was not the faulty part as it is now sitting next to me on the seat and i am hearing the exact same noise. Considering the upper steering shaft next, unless any other ideas pop up.

Very difficult to say but my best bet currently is the steering column axle bearing that is starting to sing it's last song. Any ideas if that can be replaced separately or if the entire unit with the steering wheel adjustment and all has to be replaced, if so?

The steering column is a single assembly from an Audi perspective.

Considering ordering the steering column assembly from a scrapyard and fitting that to the car, would at least eliminate everything "top-side" of the steering wheel, unless I am missing something obvious. Though seems videos/online resources on how to actually change the assembly is rare ..
