Default Clock spring

Does anyone know if the clock spring needs to be replaced after steering wheel airbag went off? Usually, during the airbag deployment clock spring connectors melt, but I've been reading that in the newer cars some clock springs are able to handle the high voltage.

Is there any way to test the Audi clock spring?
Should I just leave the old clock spring and if the airbag light is on or buttons on the steering wheel do not work, then replace it?

If the airbag goes off then isn't replacing the clock spring the least of your problems? If it went off in an accident then the repair shop should put it back the way it was even if it requires a spring.

True that... if the car was in the repair shop, but it's not. I bought the car after it was in an accident, so I'm fixing it myself, except the body work.
