Anyone skip 55K scheduled maintenance?
My 55K maintenance is coming up on my '09 and my Audi service rep sent me the list of parts replaced and work to be done....for a total of $725. When I had the 55K work done on my '06, I could have sworn it was closer to $500. I know the cars are different, but not that much. Has anyone skipped this service and just gone through the oil change and other basics? Any issues? I know having that work done and recorded by Audi will help will resale, but I'm not sure I want that expense right now.

I don't see what's there to do beside the oil change, cleaning the snow filter that you can do yourself, and possibly changing the brake fluid if not done within the previous 2 years. You may need a brake job, but that depends on your particular case and it shouldn't be done if it doesn't need to be.

Be aware that you cannot reset the service interval for the 55K without vag-com. I did the service myself but my local shop wants $90 to reset my service reminder. I'm just waiting for the next Audi day at the local track and have someone hook that up and program my windows.

Paid $350 for my 55k at the dealer, but that includes Mobil 1 synthetic and 3 new wiper blade refills (2 front, 1 rear on Avant). So it should have been more like $250 for the 55k alone.

Did they replace all of the filters? From the list of work, it does look like all the labor is tied up in inspections. I just want to make sure all my fluids are OK and maybe spark plugs.

That is true for indies, but not dealers. Dealers charge you an arm and a leg for a supposed thorough inspection that is reality simply checking that nothing is dripping from the car
