Avant owners sign in
I've noticed a lot of Avant owners posting in this section. That's why I don't understand the lack of vehicles at the local dealers. There are 4 dealers within a reasonable distance and only 2-3 Avants between them. There are many sedans and coupes and a few Q's but hardly any Avants. The dealer I chose had none. With my life style the wagon was a no brainer. Now if it ever shows up I'll be happy.

For everyone else who just needs a wagon and wants an Audi, the Q5 is cheaper, comes with more features, has a better residual value if you intend to lease. It's also more "SUV-like" (whatever that means) which has appeal to your average American consumer.
The Avant, which better looking with better weight distribution and just all around better as a car than the sedan, is THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS more expensive than the sedan, which is intolerable for the scant additional interior room provided.
Keep in mind I say all this, but if the damn avant came with a stick, I'd have had one in my driveway since 2009, regardless of the extortion.

The avant can't be had with a stick, so the car is bascially dead to me, and quite a few sporty wagon enthusiants are in my camp. The ones that do want an automatic with a sporty wagon have no soul, and will be the first to be culled in the coming apocolypse, so be sure to avoid them on the highway.

Manual trans is a thing of the past for me. I will never again buy a manual daily driver.
The Q5 is not cheaper. It depends on what options you choose and comes with nearly identical options. Sounds like you haven't looked at Avant values anytime recently. All Avant's especially the s4 Avant is very sought after and sells for a heavy premium. The Q5 has more appeal than the Avant to most consumers because of its ride height. The "station wagon" stigma here in the states doesn't help it either.

having had two prior stick Avants it was a sad day when Audi dropped 6MT from the Avants...but that didn't stop me from my next Avant.
Too much utility to lose just over no 6MT. I miss stick but can live with Tiptronic...and all the flexibility the wagon gives vs. sedan.
although, might bump to the Q7TDI on next one. we'll see.

Maybe if you could spell I would actually take your post seriously.

Besides, it was early in the morning, so try to forgive the spelling. or don't.
Can't say that I care much either way.
I'm certainly not going to pick on your grammar.
As far as the argument for the Q5, which I don't like, I'm just telling you what the dealers and AoA are telling me.
I do like that you state the value of an avant based on an S4 avant. which you can't get anymore.
because not enough people bought them.
which gets us back to where I started.
And you can't really argue the better value rentention, or the lease residuals would be favored differently.
you hit the nail right on the head when you mentioned the US station wagon stigma.
sweet ride by the way.

The post was done tongue-in-cheek, so don't the frilly part of your panties in a twist.

I stated ALL avants hold their value and the s4 Avant is an example.
"All Avant's especially the s4 Avant"
Not many Avant's sell in the US in general so their rarity naturally drives up value.
I couldn't tell you what lease residuals are on either since I never lease.
I can only tell you what I've seen sell.

Can I sign in even mine is only on order??
FWIW, I decided that the Tip was worth it and I'm a guy that got a 6MT in my M when the M-DCT is technically superior. I wanted a 2.0T and the P+ Q5 doesn't have anywhere near the amenities of the Prestige Avant. I know it's not fair to compare a P+ to a Prestige but since you can't get a 2.0T Prestige Q5... Also, the Q5 S-Line package is absolute garbage. All the 3.2s get the body kit so the only thing it adds to the Q5 is wheels. You don't even get sport seats, the steering wheel, shifter, nothing. It's crap.

My gf was not happy that she couldn't get the Sline package on her 2.0T Q5.
I'm sure it'll become available in the future but the current configurations leave much to be desired.
