B8 A4 2.0t Gas Mileage (33.5mpg at Sea Level)
I'm looking to get a feel for what others are getting for gas mileage on the new A4.
When I purchased the car in November, I was getting no more than about 24mpg on the hwy. After about 4000 mi, I'm now able to put the car in D, set it at 65mph, and at sea-level, it delivers a consistant 33.5mpg.
My car has the Stasis version of the GIAC chip, and prior to the chip upgrade, it was delivering at least 31.5mpg on the hwy.
Now, in order to get these levels of fuel economy, I really need to keep my foot off of the accellerator, which is why I chose to run the milage tests with the cruise control.
So, what mpg are the rest of you getting?

are these indicated MPG, or your own calculations? i get an *indicated* ~33 mpg
at that speed as well when i did some experimenting (so more accurately, approx. 30 mpg); the problem is there's really nowhere i drive routinely where a constant 65 is 'realistic'. on the interstates around here, >70 is the norm. At 75mph w/ cruise control, i get an indicated 29-30 mpg.
good to know that the GIAC tuning helped fuel mileage though; a welcome bonus.

Calculations are based on displayed values on dash
I did not do any additional calculations, I am simply reporting what is visible to me when I look at the dash. To perform the test, I get on the highway, reset the AvgMPG readout, and drive.

Re: B8 A4 2.0t Gas Mileage (33.5mpg at Sea Level)
In January I took a trip from the Bay Area to Eastern Washington - through central Oregon. In CA 75 mph or more in Oregon 60 mph Washington 70 mph. for the whole round trip I averaged right at 30.03 mpg - hand calculation based on miles driven and gas receipts. Premium for it all. Oregon and Washington gas has less ethanol I believe. In the 60 mph stretches I was getting about 33 mpg. This is for an Avant - probably slightly less than the sedan would get. Combined city/highway around the Bay area I'm getting 25-26. I'm running performance snow tires right now on 17 inch rims (fantastic snow performance). Most of this trip the temperature was below freezing.

Comparable milage to original posting
So it seems that you're getting close to the same milage that I'm getting. It's interesting that we're both able to get such great milage while the car is rated at only 27 mph (hwy).

We've got less than 1,000 miles on our Avant and our indicated average us usually around 18-20 mpg using Missouri mandated 10% ethanol gas during mixed to slow city driving. I've seen as low as 16 mpg for an average and never higher than 21 mpg. I can see an instantaneous 30+ mpg on the highway, but it's usually closer to 26-28 mpg. Honestly, I'm very disappointed with the mileage if the indicated is true. I've never done a manual back up of the mileage to verify the trip computer since I've only filled the car up once.

Don't worry
If you read the original posting I mentioned that my gas milage was originally much lower than it is now. It's taken about 4000 miles to break in, but now the engine runs great, and delivers on the promise of great gas mileage with money to burn.
