Default B8 Bluetooth compatibility?

My wife has a 2011 2.0T with Bluetooth. She must use it frequently. And she has to replace her cell phone. The last time she attempted to do this with her previous 2008 she wound up with a phone that was listed by Audi, but with software that was not up to date and would not work. Her research to date shows that all the listed compatible phones for her present car are obsolete (From Verizon.) except one that requires an optional data plan that she does not want. This suggests to me that the Audi tech info on their site may be outdated. (Which from past experience isn’t that unusual.)

If anyone knows of an accurate list of current Bluetooth compatible phones for her model and could point me to it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks

I dontknow if here are many (any?) non smart phones that work as well with Bluetooth as smart phones do and since you said you don want a data plan, it sounds like you don't want a smart phone since they require it.

One suggestion is to look at Nokia phones if Verizon has any. I had perfect Bluetooth hookup with an old Nokia 8800 (GSM though) a while back. Phonebook, recent calls, missed calls etc all synced and it even sent your own ringtone over the BT which could be set to a custom one from you normal ringtone since in the car you don't typically need a long loud ringtone.

If you end up changing your mind in data plans, the iPhone works very well with Audi's BT.

There are ways to get smart phones without a data plan. I have two Android LG Optimus T phones from T-mobile and none of them has a data plan. The first one was an upgrade and I didn't get the $50 mail-in rebate because I didn't want the data plan. The second one was an additional line and they didn't want to do it without a data plan so I bought the phone ($239), which is still cheaper vs. the 2-year contract with a data plan.
The bluetooth connectivity is nice but I don't find it practical to keep it enabled at all times - it drains the battery much quicker than I'd like. At some point I had it on constantly plus the Wifi calling most of the day and I had to recharge once a day. I have this Tasker app now that lets me turn the bluetooth on only during my commute to/from work. I keep the wifi off when I don't need it and I have turned the 3G off. That gets me a whole week between the charges.
