Default Clear bra and tint before taking delivery?

Hey Everyone,
My 2011 A4 will be here in about a week. I'm trying to decide if I should go with the Ventureshield Clear Bra and get tinting done. The dealer claims they can do part of the front hood, front bumper, headlights, part of the fenders, and backs of the side view mirrors for $799. This seems a bit steep. What do you all think is a good deal on this? Have any of you negotiated this cost? Maybe any of you in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area could recommend a place that does quality work. Also, I know this has been a little exhausted in the threads but what do people recommend as far as tinting my A4 right away? I don't need to have my car "rapper dark" as far as tint and I would like to at least stay close to legal (50% in MN). Is it worth adding the 40-50% tint in addition to the stock tint the car comes with? I was told at the dealer that it isn't that noticeable of a difference between stock and 50%. Again, any referrals in the Twin Cities area would be great. All help is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't see any point in tinting unless you're going to do at least 35% To me, anything less is barely noticeable during the day.

Reference the 50% tint, I have both my 1998 black 1.8T A4Q and my wife's 2009 VW Rabbit tinted at 50%. Both have a nice reduction visually and noticeable difference from the interior. By staying with the 50% of MN law you won't risk the $135.00 ticket you could get. I will be replacing my A4 this fall with a 2011 A4 Avant and will again stay with the 50% tint to avoid any possible delays from getting stopped for having the tint darker then allowed.

A side note reference the fine amount, I will be retiring this fall from working as a Police Officer for the last 31 years and am well aware of MN's tint law, fine costs and the cost of having to have tint changed later to comply with the states regulations. As for any one thinking darker is OK, walking up on a car with suspected criminal activity and not being able to see people or weapons makes that moment very stressful to say the least.

Default In Calif, it is illegal to tint front side windows

So I guess, I will tint the back window and back side windows 50%, then get clear UV protection on the front side windows (hopefully this will be clear enough).

I have had darker tint in the past and got a fix it ticket for it, had to remove it.

If I can go off-topic just for a sec to extend my congratulations to a soon-to-be retiree after 31 years of service. There's no life like it . I retired at age 53 seven years ago after 36 years with CN and have never looked back.

All the very best to you and your family in the future.

Keep Safe...

Tip - if you're getting the headlights done, don't forget to ask them to do the fog lights as well. The shop that did mine, didn't charge any extra for the fog lights, but said a lot of people don't bother to ask for this. Unfortunately, fog lights are one of the first spots to take a rock on the highway (and are apparently very difficult to replace).

I just got a "fix-it" ticket for my Passat's tint at 35% (done by the PO). I am taking possession of my 2011 A4 in two weeks and will most likely get 50%.

I am not sure what Carousel charges for this. Is the dealer any better/worse than an indy?

Default Only drawback is to pay dealer the additional markup

The dealer needs to make some money on the deal.
