Default Coolant pump, longer cranking, start stop fault

Hey guys I'm new to this forum in hopes of finding out what's up with my 2014 a4 2l tfsi quattro.

- at 60k my coolant pump died, got replaced with aftermarket pump and now that pump is leaking at 80k.

-engine light comes and goes randomly, mostly when car "sometimes" cranks longer to start and "start stop function fault" shows on dash.

-Car is showing codes,
#p0365 -14865 camshaft position sensor b bank 1 g300 intermittent malfunctionr
#p0017 - 14867 cmp sensor 3 g300 engine speed sensor g28 incorrect correlation intermittent.
#p0366 - 14871 camshaft position sensor b bank 1 g300 intermittent impausible signal
#p0366 - 14873 camshaft position sensor b bank 1 g300 intermittent implausible signal

So far new battery is installed and vario cam actuator replaced as it was showing oil inside plug and wiring.
Next step the mechanic is suggesting to pull cam covers off and check timing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have a 2014 "ROW" (Rest of World, ie, not NAR, North America Region, ie US/Canada) B8.5, which means you likely have the Gen3 engine (does it have dual N205 solenoids on the upper timing cover?). While based on the Gen2 which was in the B8.0 and still in the B8.5 in NAR, it's different enough that you need to make sure you're discussing things with people who are talking Gen3 troubleshooting. Even the B8.5 Gen3 is a tad different from the B9.0 Gen3B power class 2 engine (power class 1 with that B-cycle mode is very different). So I'm not sure how relevant it would be to search B9 2.0T content.

Because there is an N205 actuated variable valve timing on both cams, there is a cam position sensor on both cams. Are we to guess that "b" means the exhaust cam (which did not have VVT in the Gen2)? I assume P0017 is the "b" version of P0016 for crank to cam correlation. Yeah, I'd say job one would be pulling the timing covers validating the timing.

For the Gen2, there is an intake cam phase adaptation value which one can often monitor to get a feel for how far along the chain stretch is. No substitute for actually pulling the inspection cover and counting the tensioner teeth, but it's a valid estimate. But with having two cams, I wonder if you have an intake and an exhaust adaptation value. I wonder how similar those are.

You didn't replace the cam position sensor? It appears both sensors are the same part number (though they use a different screw on each side). I'd swap the sensors and see if the issue stays on "b" or moves to "a". At least that will isolate if the sensor itself is at fault. If not, then back to pulling covers and validating timing.

20k on a coolant pump doesn't seem very good. I'm at 210k on my original coolant pump.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, we haven't replaced the cam position sensor yet.
