Exhaust covered with soot. B8 A4 2014
Hi all,
This is my first audi A4 2014. 12.5K miles on.
Exhaust looks dirty to me, is this normal?
Also, Im using the Road Trip app to track all my gas/miles expanses. It shows normal MPG.
Any comments? Thank you in advance.

Yes. Absolutely. Audi's get dirty tips. They also burn oil. Chances are with your 2012 you'll do 1/4 to 1 quart per 10,000 miles.
Given Dieselgate who knows what else is coming out of that pipe.
Still a dream to drive though, eh?
Also let me recommend:
It'll get those chrome tips looking top notch.

But its 2014 not 2012 if it makes any different.

Dan, I guess we should ask the question: Have those tips ever been cleaned since the car was new?

Well, the only way you're going to tell what's what is to clean them up and see what's doin' a week later.
I clean the tips at just about every weekly car wash and you can see stuff starting to dribble out by the end of the next week. The DI cars seem to kick out a more toxic discharge. You just have to stay ahead of it assuming it bothers you. Those tips don't appear to have been cleaner, ever.

^^^YES! Super e-z to use, effective, cheap, and you just rinse it away when done. Leaves a bit of protection, too.

Get used to it as it's only oil. The tips will start to pit if they already haven't and once that happens they are gone. Polish helps when they are new but if you wipe them every night they stay pretty clean. Enjoy the drive.
