Default Here is a screenshot of CR's predicted reliability for 09 A4 (note rating of 2.0T compared to 3.2)

<img src="http://www.gearfx.com/audi/reliability.jpg">

Very interesting... especially how CR has "BMW 3-series (RWD)" rating above average, than a "BMW 335i (RWD)" at exactly average. AWD BMW 3 series just get worse from there. Same for other cars with RWD/FWD and AWD equivalents. Cadillac CTS' predicted reliability gave me a chuckle.

I wonder why the 2.0T would be more reliable than the 3.2? Here is CR's historical reliability record for the 4-cyl and 6-cyl models:

..having driven my wife's tsx vs my former b7 cvt car for 3 years, b7 was reliable and has a solid feel and quality.

Default its all relative these days....i have had many and never a problem...

on the other hand, one of my brothers swears by acura and had a major problem in every one, including his honda s2k and civic.

i've had 4 audis, never 1 major problem and have a 2000 ml320 which is supposed to be a lemon and have yet to have any of the issues disgusted so frequently on that model and I have 109k.
My highest mileage audi was an 87 4kq with 245k miles, it was a tank.

guess i have the luck of the draw.

Default Agreed...

I had somewhat of an unexpected problem with my B7 - I'm not even sure what technically happened but something blew in the engine and the car started shaking uncontrollably and revving itself so I was stranded on the freeway. Not something you'd expect in 2008 from your 2007, unfortunately not under warranty, about $500 to fix with my own mechanic. I still went back and got another Audi, I just consider that an included cost for such a beautiful car. I'm sure some people haven't had a single problem with their B7, it's you and your luck if you like the car buy it!

Awesome. Thanks for posting that. BMW 3-series (all 4 models) is all over the map, mostly below average and yet when you look up the 3-series at a high level, JD Powers just shows you the 4 out of 5 stars for predictibility. Just shows you how inaccurate they can be.

"Predicted Reliability" - sounds pretty tenuous to base a decision on.

However, every time I start to think about getting another Audi, I just get annoyed by reliability problem reports. Sorry, but I don't care how much fun they are to drive/how well they are built/etc. - if they spend too much time in the shop, it is a no-go for me. I have this funny notion that the more I pay for a car, the more reliable it should be !

Still gazing hard and long at an '09 A4 Avant....

Prior Audi's: '99 A4 1.8T; '02 A4 3.0
