LONG Product Review/Comparison: Prorack Whispbar (roof rack cross bars + feet)

I've had Whispbar on my avant for the past 3 years without any problems and I've driven with the roof top box over 100 without any issues. Those severe cases they showed in the video are irrelevant. If you had such a massive accident would it really matter if your cross bars survives when your car and probably you wont?

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Certain Yakima Whispbar Fit Kits Recalled
Note: This is a recall of the fit kits only (the part that attaches to the roof rails), not the bars or towers/feet. According to Yakima, a redesigned fit kit for our application is currently being engineered but availability date is unknown. The company will either refund your money (for the whole kit, after they come pick up your current bars/feet/fit kit), or send you a new set of Yakima round bars with Railgrab feet after they pick up your recalled fit kit components (with the expectation that the redesign fit kits will be mailed out someday so you can still use your Whispbars later). The Yakima bars are to intended to "hold you over" until the redesigned parts are available, and yes they will be louder than the Whispbars. I confirmed that we could keep the Yakima round bars and Railgrab feet once this happens--they will not ask for them back.
A small number of units shipped from May 24, 2011 through April 2013 have malfunctioned. In these instances racks have become loose or have been ejected from the vehicle.
You can identify if your Whispbar Fitting Kit is part of the recall by the part numbers. Part Numbers K558, K393, K421, K491, K422, K543 , K480 & K508 are all subject to recall.
These Fitting Kits are for Infiniti G-sedans (07-13), Audi Q7, A3/A4/A6 Wagons, Kia Sportage, Toyota Matrix (2009-2013) and Pontiac Vibe (2009-2010), and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.
Please call into our customer services to discuss replacement options. 888.925.4621 open Mon-Fri 7am-5pm PST.

How much did they offer on the full refund? Was the amount "capped" and did they ask for documentation to substantiate the amount? I ask because I sourced mine unconventionally (directly from the manufacturer).

Never Follows
I'll let you know once I receive the credit.

Sorry for being very late to this conversation... I am new to this List and my Brilliant Red 2009 A4 Avant (Prestige Ed)
The A-car came with the Audi (part number: 8K9 071 151 as seen under the rail) cross bars mounted but no 'wrench key' --
Can these torque sockets be sourced / or ways to elegantly uninstall the crossbars ...(?)
