Two questions regarding my new 2010 A4 w/Prestige.

The car came with Pirelli tires which appear to be much louder and harsher than the Goodyear Eagle tires that were on my 2009 loaner.

Now the car only has 100 miles on it, so I'm not ready to necessarily dismiss the Pirelli's, but the ride is much harsher than I had expected after having test driven a 2009 Prestige and the loaner.

Will this get better after the tires are more broken in or do I need to look at swapping out tires?

My other question is this. In both the 2009 loaner and my 2010, at certain times there is a really loud hum and vibration coming from the engine. It is very noticeable and happens at random times, which don't seem to be related to speed or how the car is driven. I'm suspecting that it might only occur when the sunroof is open, but I haven't driven the car enough to definitely say this is the case.

Has anyone else experienced this and know where this might be coming from?

I noticed the engine vibrating quite a bit when it was idling in the garage a few minutes ago.

Just took delivery of my 2010 A4 Quattro a few weeks ago. I have nothing to compare it to, but my car also has Pirelli tires. Loud or rough are definitely not words I would use to describe the ride. I have not noticed any vibration or hum.

I have the loud noises coming from the engine compartment too which, to me, sounds like a shroud rattling. Dealer drove around with me and confirmed it. They are trying to figure it out today.

Sounds like that might indeed be it. Let us know what the dealer ends up saying about this.
