Well finaly got around to swapping my P- cruise control stalk with a replacemt one bought off of ebay.de.
Turns out the steering module was defective and could not reset the steering angle (G85). The car would drive, but unfortunatly, I got a whole lot of ESP failures and a couple engine comm errors. Switched back to original stalk and all become copacetic again.
Anyone who contemplates this swap, to reset your steering angle, the Ross tech wiki has the procedure on it.
And Ross tech came through with personalized tech support. I cant thank them enough! When my autoscan lights up like a Christmas tree and ESP malfunction errors where chiming, they walked me back from the cliff.
I might try this again in the near future with a brand new OEM BD module, if I ever have a dealer coupon show up.

Well, turns out you can separate the steering angle sensor from the stalk! it's 2 clips and a small T8 screw.
Going to use my known good steering sensor and put on the replacement stalk next weekend and see if this can work after all.
Part numbers I am using are:
Original stalk for P- = 8K0 953 502 BB
Replacement stalk for P+ = 8K0 953 502 BD
Steering angle sensor = 8K0 953 568 F

Swapped my original steering angle over to new P+ cruise stalk and then re-assembled.
All is working fine. I have full P+ controls for the DIS on the stalk now and in MMI, for a P- trim level. Just remember to enable all the fields in MMI to shuffle thru using the stalk, that threw me for a sec.
Put a check box in Mod 16, byte 2 for Board active and DIS on stalk ends works.
While I was these I added swapped to a steering wheel with paddle shifters. Very fun. Cool how +/- lights up when lights are on in the dark.

I've got question about this. If I turn off everything in trip comp #1 DIS shows me the "time driven" feature and I can't get to trip comp #2.
Any suggestion?
Thank you
