Default Question about P0016 fault code

Hi!

About a month ago I purchased my first ever Audi A4. My A4 is 2008 (2009 model) 2.0L TDI with Multitronic transmission.

Recently I ran VCDS's Auto-Scan and it gave me one fault code:

Bank 1: CMP Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28) P0016 00 [032] - Incorrent Correlation (Attached picture has the full info).

It has to do something with timing belt / timing chain, right?

Timing belt and water pump have been replaced about 40 000km's ago, current km reading is now 171 000km's.

Where are those two sensors (G40 and G28) located on 2.0 TDI engine? I would like to measure the voltage from them and see if they give desired voltage.

I think that it's good mention that there is no power loss, and when the car is cold and I'm speeding up, I get a warning light flash (glow plug symbol flashes just once) up on the dash. When the engine is warn, no warning symbols at all.

Thank you in advance.

Hello my friend,

I seem to be on the same boat and although I did some research online/forums.. I am yet to find a solution for this p0016 code. Could you please let me know if you had any luck fixing this?

Replacing the camshaft position sensor fixed the problem.

I have an '07 Q7 4.2 FSI and have this fault. For me it is related to the VVT solenoid, specifically the intake solenoid. When I swap the solenoid to another bank the code follows by changing from P0016 (Bank 1) to P0018 (Bank 2). I assume the P0016 is universal, so this may also be your problem. I have 4 new VVT solenoid on the way. They were $25 ea on Amazon in the US.
