Whats the best fuse to hardwire my radar detector to?
Now that there are fuses in both the right and the left, which fuse are people tapping to hardwire their radar?
about to order a v1, but in the meantime, I need to hardwire my old whistler from the 90's...

Radar detector hookup
I used the third fuse down on the left side -- for the Homelink. I used an add-a-fuse thingy. I bought one at Advance Auto Parts for six bucks and change. You can see a picture of one here:

Good question. If I remember right, I used the very first empty slot with one of those TAPA add a fuse adapters and a 7.5 fuse and it works perfectly.

So i will be asking a noob question here.
How/Where do you pull the cables? Across the dash or open it up?
I have a phobia against cables hanging lose in the car, it drives me nuts.

I mounted the V1 close to the top of the windshield, just to the right of the rearview mirror. I used a credit card and carefully pushed the wire into the headliner, crossed to the left side of the A pillar where the pillar and headliner meet, then pushed the wire inside the edge of the pillar and rubber lining, and down to the fuse box next to the driver side dash.

Electric Juice to an Empty Fuse Slot?
The empty fuse slots still have juice running to them? I would have (incorrectly) thought that if I don't have an accessory (e.g., rear windshield wipers), then there would be no fuse AND no juice to the slot.

As it turns out, there IS electricity going to fuse slots that are not being used. My A4 does not have a fuse in the lumbar support slot, but it does have electricity in the left-hand side of the slot... Now I just have to find a fuse that is only hot when the car is on.
