I just bought a set of tires that were used a couple thousand miles from a buddy for $400 (about half the new price). I'd be much less likely to buy them from someone I don't know, especially if I couldn't see them in person first. Local sale like craigslist or regional forums will be your best bet. Good luck!

I definitely second this motion.

I would never sell these tires sight unseen. And once you see them, you'll agree that they are in like-new condition.

Already tried craigslist. The only response I got was from a scammer who wanted me to ship them first, then he'd send me a check for more than I was asking (or so he said).

I got Continental DWS. I had Contis on my previous A4 and they were good, even in the snow. These have proven to be just as good. They might not be good for aggressive driving, but I try to drive moderately. As for the ride on city streets, it is firm but not jarring. On the highway, they're great.

Already thought about that. I may end up keeping them until six months before I sell my car, then put them back on. The buyer will be pleased, I'm sure.

That's your choice. These tires are perfect in every way, and I had them removed by a high-end shop that took great care with them. The tires have 98 percent of the tread left, have no blemishes, are not out-of-round, are not cupped, etc. I can understand people's reluctance to buy used tires, but these are a great deal. If you saw them in person you would not be afraid to buy them.

Buyers can't be assured that they are perfect especially if you ship them. What would a buyer do if there were a problem and you we not responsive? They would have no recourse.

We have the same B8 sports package. I put the DWS on my wife's 2007 A4 3.2. OK for her but they feel soft to me. They have a weak sidewall and are prone to pothole blowouts. She got three last spring. They are as close to a winter tire as an all season can be. See Tire Rack reviews.

The P7s are great and I bought UHP snows for the winter. Blizzaks were sold out by 12/09 so I got Goodyears which were very good.

Perhaps consider running the P7s this summer and save the tread on the DWS for the winter. By the third winter they will be worthless in the snow if you keep running them.

I still do some skiing so it matters to me. I used to run studded snows in the winter when I had a place in Springfield MA in the late 60s. Had a BMW 1600 and then a 2002. I drove to a share house in Sugarbush VT most winter weekends.
