My classic 160 works great. Mine is FULL and when I do a shuffle, it sometimes makes the MMI blink while loading the art. I found that scrolling ahead about 30 songs lets it download the art in time to play. No flickering. I agree with the cable suggestion. I have about 3 different cable makers laying around my house. Some were cheap and some are pretty beat up. Try to use a real apple cable.

It's a shame they don't make anything with that large a memory anymore?

This.

I swapped out the hard drive in my 160GB 7th gen classic with a 500 GB SSD, hoping that would allow me to get my entire 60k song music collection on it. The good news is (i) the performance with the SSD is much better than with the stock drive, and (ii) I was able to get my entire music collection on it. The bad news is that the IPOD's operating system recognizes only about 32k songs so if I load more than that it becomes inoperable.

Any data USB cable should work.

This is my Media driver version if you want to compare. My car was a fairly early build - early April '16 if I remember right.

My 2007 iPod 80 GB Classic and iPod Touch 4th Generation touch are not recognized when connected through the USB ports. Car was just received by the dealer and delivered to me this week. I transferred all my iTunes to Audi Connect for WiFI music, but will lose connectivity if the subscription is not maintained.

Since the music quality suffers using Bluetooth, it appears a new iPod may need to be purchased. Any confirmation for use of the latest iPod generations?

I haven't tried playlists but other comments I've read says it's possible. Currently, I'm just using shuffle play.
Playlists (.m3u) work. Put them in the root directory of the SD card or USB stick.

I use Foobar2000 to create them.
