Default Automatic Braking

I got my A4 Prestige with the driver assist package about two weeks ago (ordered the first week of January). Can't say enough about the car. Still getting used to the driver assist features. The lane assist can be a little aggressive at times. The manual seems to say (or actually does say) that when adaptive cruise control is off the system will give suggestions but not take corrective action. There doesn't seem to be any automatic braking when adaptive cruise control is off (but I haven't taken it to the limit to see). In cars without adaptive cruise control will the Audi pre sense automatically brake the car when a car suddenly stops or slows in front of the A4? I tend to keep adaptive cruise control on most of the time but for Premium or Premium Plus drivers (or Prestige without drivers assist) is there any automatic braking?

Yes, it's called Braking Guard, a component of Presense Plus (front). If a followed car stops, you will see a red icon, then a chime and then the brakes will engage to try to avoid a collision. (Physics allowing). Unlike ACC, without it engaged, the braking is not as gradual but is more like an emergency stop. It's all in your manual along with a lot of other good stuff.

Thanks. I'm still working my way through the manual.
