Default B9 A4 replacement dampers, std suspension

Greetings,
I have a 2017 A4 Quattro with the standard suspension, not sport or adaptive. What is the most affordable way to replace my dampers? Are Bilstein B4s as good or better than OEM? Do I need an install kit? Does anyone know part numbers or the easiest way to find part numbers?
Ive used ECS Tuning for parts, but sometimes their descriptions arent thorough enough for me to be confident in what I'm buying.
Thanks in advance for your time and help,
AB

Bilstein B4 for 1BA (standard) would be what I'd do.

Wow, wtf with the front struts pricing for the B4 OE for the B9. They're even more than the B6 struts, and about double what I was expecting. For my B8, the front B4 struts are $134, vs $357 for the front B6.

B4 - https://cart.bilsteinus.com/details?...8080&Pos=Front
B6 - https://cart.bilsteinus.com/details?...8080&Pos=Front
If that's the case, I'd probably just go B6. Whatever you go with, use the same front and rear.

I'm happy to see Bilstein has a replacement part for the 1BL adaptive suspension now too, the Damptronic. I wonder if it's tuned for the 1BL adaptive standard or 1BQ adaptive sport.

Thank you very much for the info! Do you think there is much difference in ride quality or handling between B4 and B6? I'd love slightly better handling but unfortunately I have developed some back issues and I've gotten pretty darn sensitive to ride quality, to the point I traded in my GTI for something smoother, and the GTI is not a harsh car for the overwhelming majority of people. So I'm tempted to go B6 but the B4 might actually be better for me if they're a little softer.
Thanks again!

If you're looking for the plusher ride, yeah, I'd stick to the B4. B6 is an upgraded damper over the B4. I don't think I'd call it that harsh, but I'm not overly sensitive to the suspension so long as my teeth aren't chattering.

Rennen, the B8 is specifically for those with lowering springs of 30-50mm below standard ride height. For those with standard or sport (-20mm), the B6 is the more correct upgrade fit.

But what about if I have the standard sport suspension and I go for B4? And maybe change the springs too. I find the sport suspension too harsh and every bump is felt

Sorry for hijaking @AB9A4

I think B4's are 10% stiffer than stock only. If you have sport suspension, you are as plush as you will be. Struts will stiffen, springs will stiffen. Your call.

Sport is 23mm over 1be, not 20.

It's close enough, B8 was -20mm so that's where I was pulling that. Bilstein will tell you B6 is the correct match to OE suspensions and B8 is the correct match if you have aftermarket lowering springs.

Except it's 23mm, but 3mm who cares.

Pricing sucks, and availability sucks even more.
