I just had to replace it and it was all good.
I got one that had the same revision number as the original one in my car to make sure I wouldn't be bothered (the D at the end of the part number).
The coding is specific to the vehicle options, and I was lucky as it was exactly the same as the original one (the Audi agency that services my car checked it and confirmed it).
If you had already done an autoscan with VCDS or something similar, you should have the coding in the logs.
I had also retrieved the firmware of this module to inject it with VCP on the module that was down to try to recover it, but it didn't work.
What does the module tell you when you try to connect to it? Exactly the same nonsense as mine in the VAG number?

So I think injecting the firmware as I tried to do would be useless as it was for me.
Have you ever done an autoscan with VCDS or something like that before the failure or would you have the coding of your module?
