Understood, but he was talking about the 2019 models.

I was referring to A4/A5 family. Haven’t confirmed it yet. Also the fine print that google earth won’t be available after Dec 2020 is not there and only a general info about Audi connect services availability is in the fine print now.

As am I, it is the current q3/A6/A7&A8 that will be future proof and have the hardware capable of taking Google Earth beyond 2020. And when the proper facelifted A4 comes out next year this also, as well as the A5 getting a interior makeover..

Something at the bottom of the page at https://www.myaudiconnect.com/#/googleearth that I hadn't noticed before. They are now saying that some models might be upgradable and talk to your dealer if you've got a Model year 2017 - A3, A4, allroad, Q7, TT, and R8 or Model year 2018 - A3, A4, allroad, A5, Q5, Q7, TT, and R8. I would of course assume it's a paid upgrade.
However I've long stopped using the Audi navigation because the traffic information in Android Auto is so much more accurate in my area. I did really like the cockpit map display and HUD turn guides, but they're basically useless if you're getting bad data, so I didn't renew my Audi Connect subscription.

Per Audi, a subset of MY2017 and MY2018 vehicles are eligible to receive a software update to continue receiving satellite imagery. Owners of these cars have started receiving letters confirming this and should contact their dealer.

MY2019 won't need it, they're already compatible with next year's satellite imagery.

At least if they provide an update to let us "mirror" android auto in Virtual Cockpit. (like they do it in TT, which has no additional MMI display)

In the dealership yesterday for an oil change and asked them about the MMI update. They did it and it works fine. However, there is now a 2-line disclaimer at the top of the screen with the Maxar name and legal mumo jumbo in it. Very annoying. AND if you are in 3D mode and scroll out more than a few clicks you will see the horizon and a large blue sky. That takes away a good part of the display. I do not recall seeing that ever in Google Maps and I've used the MMI for 2+ years now. Not happy with Audi on this. My A4 is awesome but high service costs and this make me wonder...
