Default How To Factory Reset MMI

I had to do this when I first got the car in April when Audi Connect would not automatically connect when I started the car. Google Earth view, traffic, etc wouldn't work until I manually connected via the Audi Connect screen in the MMI. After the reset everything worked perfectly.

To perform the reset:

1. Scroll to the Settings option in the MMI and select it. Scroll down to the "Factory settings" option and select it.

2. Choose "Select all entries" to reset everything or pick and choose the individual options you want.

3. At the bottom of the list, select "Restore factory settings"

The process takes a few minutes if you select everything. There isn't a processing indication -- your MMI will just sit as normal and the radio will stay on, etc. Just wait a minute or two and eventually the system will reboot and you should come back to the Settings menu. At that point you're free to re-setup everything.

The only things that don't seem to get reset with this are the items in the Vehicle Settings menu -- the power fold mirrors, seat memory, garage door opener, etc.

Before you do this make sure that you have the car's code that came with the keys on a little plastic thingy and had to be scratched off. That's not the code shown online in AudiConnect and that code is required to link the car to your AudiConnect account.

I just picked my new A4 up Saturday. I don't recall seeing this little plastic thingy in the box with my keys. Did others receive this, if so I will ask my dealer about it.

Yes, and they were very clear to be sure to keep it in a safe place!

My dealer didn't say a word about it. Thanks for the heads up

Yes. You need the code on that plastic tab to connect your car to your phone using Audi connect. That makes you the authorized user of the car.
