Those are bump stops for the suspension. All cars have that. Ask your dealer to check the suspension bushings. My old VW had that issue and they sorted it out saying the bushings were not seated properly. It used to make a noise like u described when I went slowly over speed bumps, potholes or uneven road surfaces. They realigned the "bushings" and it never happened since .

Could be and sounds like whats going on here ... my car is currently getting fixed by the dealer for a rattle/noise coming from the drivers side rear fender area...

Hmmm, yes, my sound could perhaps be called a "creak" instead of a "clunk". I'm going to have to check out the area designated in the forum you linked to.

Looks like a case of loose bump stops. That problem is reported far too often (right after delivery). They should be pushed up.

Exactly. My VW dealership called it bushings but I’m guessing it was misaligned bump stops.

Bump stops are in place and aligned and the knocking has stopped. Drive home was smooth and quiet.

Have the service department check the rear struts. I had the same issue when I took delivery of my car. After almost 10 days at the dealership and service department took everything out of the trunk, Audi finally figured out that it was the struts. Mine is a 2018 A4 P+.

took my a4 in today with similar issue, sound like the suspension was loose or our of place.

they told me thAt is kinda of a normal issue with the a4s and they need to change some bolt-ons. I don’t know exactly where and what by the warranty covers it

Does not happen all the time, but on some road imperfections. Wrapped and tighten down everything, including jack, spare tire, and tools. I did read that there may still be shipping shims or pucks that may have been left in the suspension. When looking under the car, I do see, what appears to be a black, rubber puck at the bottom of the spring. Not sure if that is where the shipping puck would be located. If I can't figure it out, I will schedule an appointment, but figured I give it a shot here. Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions.

Default 2022 A4 - same issue

Just dropped off my 2022 A4 with 180 miles with the exact same thumping sound - rear passenger side - when I hit pot hole or man hole cover. Technician said they had another 22 A4 with same symptom in the shop. He was guessing shock or strut…going to test drive and inspect and let mw know ASAP.

Will update this thread later……🙏
