Major Facelift for B9?

Actually, the design language of the B6 was one of my favorites in the history of the A4. The rear end particularly seemed the most Bauhaus of the series. Eye of the beholder I guess.

Odd, I always thought that Bauhaus was known for its simple, straight lines with clear edges, and there really wasn't all that much straight about the B6 tail end. On the flip side, the current A3 and A4 are about as Bauhaus as they come, which is why I got the S4 vs. the "trendy" S5SB.

Here’s a recent article saying that the facelift cost 700 million Euros and was in response to disappointing sales. Supposedly and taking place in 2019 and more or less an entirely new car.
Seems like a B6 to B7 transition to me, maybe even more intensive. We’ll just wait and see I guess.

They talk about Model Year 2019 which starts in week 25 for ROW, so the US MY 2019 may start late this year or we will get the facelift as MY 2019.5 or 2020 in early 2019.

It's likely that the A5 SB is pulling sales from potential A4 buyers. And here in the states, the Q5 is also taking sales from the A4.
I'm not sure a facelift will correct a "demographic" trend of slumping sedan sales for many brands. It may alienate their current fanbase if it's too radical.

The current A4 was a pretty conservative exterior redesign as was my 2018 A5 coupe - they aren't terribly groundbreaking. With sedan sales in a slump overall, I'm not surprised if Audi is going to try liven up the A4. I don't think it'll be a redesign, but wouldn't be surprised if they changed up the front and the rear quite a bit to pull it more in line with the new A6/7. The redesigned Accord sales numbers for Feb 2018 are down about 15% from a year prior. This Accord is much better than the previous generation and well above any of its competition in the midsize family sedan market. More then ever, you have to entice people into a sedan. The safe and boring is now for CUV/SUVs.
