The conditions for a proper engine break-in are as follows (check your car's owners manual for proper engine break-in instructions):
1. Do not go over 2/3 of the REV range
2. Vary your revs once in a while. Do not linger on a rev range like driving in cruise control for long periods.
I doubt if you will go over 2/3 of the rev range when doing 80mph on the highway. Just vary the revs regularly while you drive on the highway.

I am always in Auto and drop the shifter into Sport when I want more power.

I am wondering if having the engine and/or transmission on dynamic uses more gas, can someone comment on that? I am averaging around 27-28MPG 50/50 highway/city driving with the car in comfort mode.

With about the same mix of highway/city driving I'm getting about 25mpg. Not an exact comparison, since I'm sure we drive differently, but mine is always in Dynamic and I'm betting better milage to had out of the Dynamic mode.

Thanks for the reply. Stupid question apart from maybe a little bit more gas but does riding the car in dynamic and with higher RPM's wear down components in the engine and transmission faster than if the car was in auto running lower RPM's and not shifting speeds as much?
