Default Window opens after I try to close it

When my passenger side rear window is open more than about 1/4", and I try to close it, it automatically opens after closing.

I tried this to no avail:
1) Hold window button to open it fully.
2) release button
3) fully press and hold the button again for ~10 seconds.
4) repeat in the other direction.

All other windows operate normally.

Does this happen only when you are trying to close just that window, or when you are simultaneously closing that window in addition to others? I'm on my second B9 and have occasionally experienced an issue with both cars: when I simultaneously close both rear windows or both front windows, one or more of them might reverse. It's like the electronics is sensing an overload and is triggering one or more of the windows to reverse in order to avoid crushing an object like an arm or head. I assume each window has an overload sensor for safety reasons, and it seems like yours is being triggered on that window. Maybe it's too sensitive, or there is too much friction on that window or something is blocking the window from closing completely.

I haven't experienced this behavior in other vehicles, so perhaps Audi's overload sensor is more sensitive than other manufacturers.

Yeah, sounds like the "overload/crush" sensor.

When I got my first Audi the salesguy stuck a rolled up towel in the window to show me how it stops itself.

It does sound pretty classic for the "finger pinch" sensor taking some binding from a dry window track as something else.

The first thing I would consider is rolling the offending window down completely and cleaning the rubber/felt tracks above the window with several dry Q-tips on both vertical sides.

Then, lubricate the tracks with a minimal amount of silicone from just above the window to the top of the track (again, you can use Q tips to distribute the lubricant). Run the window up and down a few times to distribute the lubricant.

There are a number of favorites people have. I've used 3M paste with some success in the past. There is also a Honda proprietary lube that many really like. The 3M stuff is cheaper and works fine for me.

Good luck.

If the instructions in the manual do not resolve the problem and since your car is under warranty I would let the dealer fix it.

The problem occurs whether I'm closing the single window or all windows.

I tried the clean and lube suggestions, but no luck.

Looks like I'm off to the dealer.

Thanks !
