Default HOOD JAM. AGAIN!!! THIRD TIME....

Further to my post about my theory that the steep hill had caused my hood to jam a week or so ago...

Well it was a good theory right up until it jammed outside my sisters house today.

Basically, dropped hood and drove to sisters.

Raised hood outside her house when I got there.

Then an hour or so later dropped hood outside her house when I left with my father for his flying lesson.

Raised hood at airfield. Dropped it a couple of hours later for drive back to sisters.

Hood back up outside her house (in exactly the same spot I'd parked last time) then later in the evening went to come on home, hit the hood button and it all ground to a halt in exactly the same way as before (see previous post lower down).

Car parked on a slight incline but nothing more.

I'm bothered by this now. Third time it has done it and this time in different circumstances. Previously I was happy that operating it on a steep hill had been the cause so easy to avoid but this is random, especially as I'd dropped the hood in the same spot earlier and indeed raised it there twice.

Took a photo of it this time.

Any thoughts guys? I'm really bothered by this now...

Ari.

Default Cheers Honkie, just wondered if anyone else had any issues

Unfortunately whilst your situation is interesting they didn't manage to fix yours so it doesn't bode well!

If I recall you are in the USA where I guess you may have different laws about being able to reject a car. If the worst comes to the worst I may have to look into the UK position on this.

Hope not though...

Ari,

Looking at your photo the problem seems to be that your tonneau cover is still open whilst your hood is in mid close position. The tonneau cover should close completely before the rear (window) section of the hood starts to lower. I think you have a sensor problem there. These supermodels are so tempremental!

I occassionaly have a problem when I drop my hood with the tonneau cover not closing once the hood is stowed. I have to release the hood button then quickly press it again to get the cover to close.

Take it back to your dealer and show them this photograph.

Good luck.

Yeah, what is happening is it is trying to open the soft top box lid before the trailing edge of the hood has lifted clear.

Into the dealer tomorrow I think...

I had exactly the same problem with ragdude the first week I had the cab. Never had the problem ever since.

Hi!

When it happens what do you then do? Do you have to open/close manually or is it necessary to call a service car?

I used to slightly press the cover and it would close. Hasn't happened since first week of having the car, which is 3 months ago
