2014 - 2015 Audi A6 Innovation Package Speculation
I was just doing some reading on safety innovations I think we are likely to see in the A6 in the coming 12 - 24 months.
Speaking of safety, let me also add a vote for Audi adding an audible warning option to the side assist visuals.
1. Post-Crash Braking - after a crash impact, the car is "autonomously decelerated to a standstill" unless the driver actively remains in control of the vehicle. Judging from the car crash compilation videos we all see, this would be very useful to many in and around accidents.
2. Rear Cross Traffic Alert - notifies the driver backing out of a space of fast-approaching cross-traffic
3. Wrong-way Driving Intervention - the vehicle uses cameras and GPS confirmation to determine that a driver is going the wrong way, and notifies the driver.
4. Emergency Steer Assist - the vehicle detects an object in the travel path, first provides driver notification, and where a collision is imminent steers around the the obstacle using ESC to keep vehicle stable. Video at link. IMO this feature, once refined, will take some time to come to the US due to liability issues.
