I have seen a few people complain that their pedal is not as firm as they would like even with factory pads. I am not disputing that ceramics have trade offs,I am just saying that ceramics designed as part of the entire system can hold its own with other materials.

Proper bedding-in will help enormously (and I don't meant the factory-prescribed "take it easy for 500 miles"). I couldn't do it when I got my car, since it was the middle of winter and threshold braking on studded tires is not a good thing. After my track day, however, pedal feel and modulation is much improved.

Tirerack.com has two different sizes for the front. Which one did you order? It has been a while since this post. Are you still happy with it? TIA

Tireracks picks the correct size if you enter your model info correctly. I love them. While many disagree with me, I find ceramics take a good 1000-1500 miles to fully break in, at least for me since I drive suburban driving. It has been below 30 here a few times and I notice no degrade bite when cold. They do not dust. I have gone 300 plus miles between washes and wheels are clean. What I do not like is the brake pedal travel in the A6, my Infiniti there was less than 1/2-3/4 inch before the pads bit, the A6 feels like at least double that. The dealer is willing to,adjust the pedal, it just requires removing a bunch of stuff under the dash so I have been reluctant. A fellow M37S owner that also made the switch here emailed me the same concerns about the excessive and spongy feel of the A6 compared to what the Infiniti had. I have no regrets with these pads and love them.

I will add one other thing, while I am digging the pads and find them good, I think a good semi-metallic pad may be more grabby. I think because the A6 brake system was designed with semi-metallic pads that even the Akebonos as good as they are have to,deal with rotors, calipers and pad size that was designed for semi-metallic pads. Again the Akenonos are great on the A6, but I miss the sport brakes on my M37S as that brake system was factory designed with ceramic pads from Akebono and preferred the quicker more linear grab of them over my A6.
