I copied and pasted what you originally wrote above and it says the bearings, not the hub, are 1mm smaller so that what was I was going on. If they're not then no worries! Was just trying to help and save you from potential damage.

OK my bad! I mean't bearing/hub assembly. I'll see what a thing ring of metal tape will do for me. I've actually read on some BMW forums that they've had the same issue resolved by a thin layer of tape around the hub to temporarily get the wheel centered until they could have some hub-centric shims made.

WOW, my mind is blown. I had some doubt that a few pieces of aluminum tape wrapped around the hub would do the trick, but damn was I wrong. It's an Audi again! The hub was around 65.5mm when I measured with a vernier caliper, and the hub bore is 66.6mm on the wheel. 3 wraps of tape around the hub put me at about 66.5-66.6 on the nose, so I threw the wheels back on and went for a drive. Zero shake at any speed from 0-85. I had no idea 1mm made that much of a headache. Lesson learned. Thanks everyone 🍻

Yeah 1 mm can throw things off. Good to hear you resolved it.
