Judging from another thread, it sounds like service departments are being told by Audi not to do the firmware update as it bricks Google Earth as you describe.
My 2012 A6 Prestige was updated to the 942_3 software to solve a problem with losing Google Earth download. Google Earth overlay downloads just fine.

I had an issue with navigation lag. Spoken cues were slow, input was slow.
It seems now, that all POI's on the interstate, along the route, are listed even though I've disabled them.
Additionally, can someone check for the address of Audi of Hoffman Estates. They moved from Schaumburg to Hoffman Estates, IL about two years ago. I swear before the update, the new address showed up, but now, the old address shows up. Its as if the navigation reverted to an old map version.
First I've seen of that version on a pre-facelift A6 C7. You may be the first on the forum to get it so we're relying on you to fill us in on any changes you note. Was there something you reported to the dealer that prompted this TSB and update?
I got the update too it was covered under warranty my mmi was acting up and my sd card wasn't reading so got new hardware and software
For anyone else who lands here searching for the same answer, the TSB is now 2044940/2. It instructs the dealer tech to download an archive file from ServiceNet that includes a fix script. It is MMI3GP K0942 Google Earth INOP Cleanup Patch under Technician References/Audi MMI Scripts. The 2 files in the archive are tiny and just require an empty SD card. Once copied to the SD card, it needs to be inserted after the MMI fully boots and the Telephone menu options are all loaded. You'll get a green confirmation screen that the script has run.
Are you DIY'ing these updates? Looks like the same process as the C6?
Yes, I DIY'd the 942_3 update and I got the fix script a few mins ago, so I'll be trying that in the morning. Mine's a little special since it's a 3GP retrofit into my 2010 B8.
