Hi everyone. First post, and I will preface by saying that I am not a person with a great automotive understanding beyond some basics (although a few of my family members do, and I usually can go to them for advice). I have a 2013 A6 3.0L TDI that recently stopped cranking (has just over 100k miles on it, I drive it everyday, and have my fun moments with it when possible on the highway). As it turns out, one of my undercarriage covers came off a few months back, allowing moisture to mess some things up (I live south of Cancun in Mexico, so plenty of humidity). My mechanic here quoted me a new mechatronic from the dealer, which is about 25-40% of what the car is worth. Asking about alternative options, he offered to repair/recondition it for right at about $1,500 USD (labor is cheap down here, and the peso is really low against the dollar). Does anyone have any other sourcing options, or advice related to him being able to properly do the work? I appreciate it!
