Rotor Issues

I think the OEM rotor is soft and warp easily. I had vibration when braking also. This was occuring around 25,000 miles and on. So i replaced them around 35,000 miles with aftermarket rotors (Zimmerman) and pads (Akebono). Everything is smooth after that. I'm at 81,000 miles now.
Check with partsgeek.com or autoanything.com. Plenty of aftermarket stuff out there.

My dealer replaced my rotors at 22k miles. They said they were warped. Covered by warranty after lots of complaining. My problem is that they were probably replaced with the OE rotors, so I can expect them to warp as well at 44k miles. I have used Zimmerman in the past and they have been fine.

Got 3rd Set of Rotors today!!
The dealer telling you that is a shill for Audi. There is no reason that these brakes shouldn't be, or couldn't be, as good as any other car, yet we consistently hear complaints about them from numerous people. After what happened today with my A6, I'm ditching Audi. They have nice interiors, but the way they treat customers, and their excuses for their sub-standard parts, and systems, is inexcusable.

Well, my rotors have been warped for a few thousand miles, IMO. Coming home last night, however, when trying to stop from highway speed, the entire car was shaking. I think there's a bad wheel bearing, or something, because I don't believe that the entire car would be shaking so radically from simple warping of the rotors.

I'm talking about massive vibrations. I've experienced warped rotors before, but it was never this noticeable.
At any rate, dealer wanted $895 to do the fronts, and the pads. I declined, and told them if the rotors only last 30k, then I'll shop aftermarket. I'm a very smooth driver, and these rotors should last at least 50-60k miles, probably more. I figured at the price they're quoting, I can get better quality, and save some cash, too.
