S6 Vs M5
Most of the Car mags did a first drive on the new M5 this month, looks to be quite the car per 2 reviews I read. 0-60 about 4 sec 560 hp, 502 torque. Be interested to see how the S6 stacks up.
One interesting fact from automobile magazine..the M5 uses "active sound" to pump engine sound into the car. "record the screaming engine on a dyno, delete the acoustics you wouldn't hear from inside the car and load the remainder into a computer that plays it back through the stereo speakers at the appropriate tim, pitch and volume" Bmw claims it is " trying to replace something that was taken out by the 5 series extraordinary well insulated chassis " LOL.

Thats really sad. Im also disappointed that the performance divisions are going to easier forms of horsepower gains, such as turbocharging. I thought BMW and Mercedes prided themselves on huge hp per liter number while naturally aspirated, but all are just slapping on turbos and cranking up the boost for performance. Im sure it has alot to do with MPG numbers and emissions, but still. Seems cheap to me. Audi seems to have bounced back and forth along the way but of course, theyre better haha.

It'll be even more interesting to see how the upcoming RS6 stacks up against the M5 since that is the real analog, not the S6.

I was just about to say the same thing, the S6 isn't an M5 competitor that's the job of the RS6 which we know very little, not output or it's weight. The S6 against it's true competitors (550i/xi and E550) should fare favourably as it should have more hp, weigh less and combined a performance enhancing chassis.

The stock 3.0T is 4.8 according to Car and Driver, and I was able to confirm that via some debauchery over the weekend :-) I think a chipped 3.0T will be roughly 4.5, so my guess is the new S6 will be 4.2 or so. It's going to be an unbelievable vehicle.

The work that has went into improving the emissions on this new engine suggests to me that it was designed and developed with America in mind. On this occasion I think the RS6 will make a return.

Will the RS6 be using the same engine?
