No, they make 550i X

It looks pretty nice with the M pkg. Total price starts around mid 60's but probably low 70's with decent options.

$70K have got to be a pretty strip down 550ix. When I was looking at the 5 series, a 535iX can get up to $70K pretty quick.

Define strip down. I say M package + a few other goodies is good enough for most folks and adequate to hang with the upcoming S6. Suffice to say, S6 with base price tag > $75K may persuade many to consider other options.

I see the S6 as positioning between the 550i and the M5. It's more special than a 550i, but not as potent as an M5.

Thanks to Audi, BMW have drop their price for the 2012 550ix and made more options standard. Competition is good for the consumers, BMW can no longer set their own terms.

Although I see you still have to pay BMW extra to get fold down rear seats.

Yep, competition is indeed a good thing For the similar price, I'd gladly take S6/A6 over 5 series anyday.

S6=550 not sure about that. Might come close on price, but after that I think the S6 will out classes the 550x drive all around. More hp, torque, technology and way fewer on the road.
