Isn't supercharger boost available at low RPM? Unlike turbocharger where boost will kick in at higher RPM. At 3000RPM, i did not see any color light up in the boost gage.

My observations are about the same:
1) Downshifts are slower and the car maintains more momentum when you let go of the gas.
2) Steering response is a bit heavier than comfort but lighter than dynamic.

In terms of actual efficiency I'm not picking up any major differences. I drive a ~36km route of about 25km highway/7km Medium speed roads late at night regularly (no traffic and temperature has been consistent for the last couple of weeks) and I've been hitting anywhere between ~7.5L/100km (31MPG) to ~8.4L/100km (28MPG) between both comfort and efficiency. So its really hard to tell if it makes any major difference.

Have you tried pushing the shift lever to (S) while in Efficiency mode? Just want to confirm if it is normal that shifting to (S) from (E) has no effect.

Thanks.

In the "good old days", this was generally true. However, manufacturers have committed a lot of R&D into improving turbo response. The V8TT from Audi is about as state-of-the-art as you can find nowadays. Hot-V set-up - check. Twin dual-scroll turbos - check. Direct injection with variable valve timing - check. The net result is that there's no discernible lag. Peak torque is supposedly made by 1,400 rpm (I take this stat with a grain of salt, but still...).

The problem with the boost gauge in the Lap Timer screen is that there are no units to indicate what exactly is being shown. I suspect that, in order to avoid it dancing around at part throttle, it's set to only show boost above a pre-determined threshold.

I haven't try it while the car is moving. However, I did see E1-> S1 when I tapped the shift lever at a stop and the car shift as if in dynamic mode until tapping the shift lever again.

The difference seems to be in which mode it ends up. In efficiency it goes from D# -> M# vs. S#.

Does Efficiency mode work for 2012 w/o auto start stop? I read on Audi Enthusiasts that E mode is not complete w/o start stop so what am I losing?

nope.. if you were in efficiency mode and push the shift lever to (S), it will go from E# -> S#. But when i do that, Dynamic driving mode is just not the same as from D# -> S#. I guess once you choose (E), you basically cant be dynamic.

After much research, i believe efficiency mode is designed for TDI, not for gas version of the A6. Unless someone with gas version of the A6 can confirm efficiency came default with Drive Select.

hmmm...

I enabled lap timer, I even went back in and verified the bit is in fact set.

But scrolling through all the menus I do not see a boost gauge (or a lap timer)

EDIT: never mind, I found it
