i have changed the tranny oil at 75k and now the car has 94k. lately ive noticed that when the car downgears to 2nd from 3rd the shift is quite jerky. it used to be smooth. all the other gears seem to be shifting fine up and down.

also when up shifting from 3rd to 4th the rpms do not drop all at once. say the car is in 3rd gear at 3000rpm going in for 4th it shifts into fourth and the rpm goes down to 2500 then a 2 seconds later the rpms drop again to 2200rpm. ive noticed this in alot of vw and audi's. my 2.7 does it and i had a loaner passat which seems to do it as well. i also test drove another passat a while back and noticed it did the same thing.

i talked to the dealership he said the rpms droping twice instead of all at once in 3rd to 4th is normal because the car generates most of its torque in 3rd so that is the result.
im mainly concerned about the rough and jerky downshift to 2nd. please help me.

also i am starting to think my tranny mounts are going bad beacuse most of the time i shift out of Park there is a big thud as if it were parked on a hill without a handbrake but its on a level surface. it does it quite often but not always! is the downshifting and bad mounts related? the thud has been present ever since i bought the car at 69k miles. before the tranny oil change and after...

Also i had the timing belt changed at 90k and the fluid was checked and found to be at correct level. the car seems to be working fine at this time. it just recently started doing this.
the diagnostic was not working because the fuse kept blowing so im not sure if the diagnostic is required to check the temp and fluid. but the mech said the level was OK.

The car is an 01 a6 2.8l FWD 5speed tip.
