'01 A6 4.2 w/sport/prem - a couple of newbie questions. 1. Does the outside right mirror tilt down
when in reverse (it doesn't, but I thought it should)
2. I just noticed the "airbag" label on the rear seats. Was this standard? I always thought it was an option. I like it though. It doesn't say when I looked at the "History" section of AW.
3. I know the car is pre-wired for a CD changer, but I still can't find the wires/harness for it in the left trunk storage compartment. There's a couple of wires there, but they're already connected to something else. Am I mistaken, or should I look a little harder?

The mirror selector needs to remain in the right hand position in order for the mirror to tilt in reverse.
The pre-wiring is in the compartment you mention. If you have the Nav system then there is already that unit in place and you will probably have to remove it then place both of them back in. Otherwise, use a brighter flashlight and look harder, the wires are there.
Rear airbags were an option, apparently you have it.
