Default 1998 turning but not starting

Well here I am again. Needing help.

Yesterday after work I went to start my car and it woulld just turn and turn and turn without catching.

No problem I thought, had it towed home where I had a pile of parts I was going to replace.

Did it today;
spark plugs
wires
ignition coil
fuel pump
fuel pump regulator
and last fuel filter

well it started just fine so I was happy.

Went out to it about an hour later and once again, just turned and turned and turned.

Timing belt and all that was done about 2 months ago.

What could it be?

Any codes?

If no, I'd say coolant temp sensor.

No access to a vagcom yet.

But it does do it only when its hot outside or when its been running up to temp. It does start fine in the morning when its cooled off.

Does the temp sensor do that? Can it disable a whole car from starting?

Is the coolant temp sensor the one behind the engine or the one closer to the radiator?

I guess you didn't bother to STFA or check the tech section?

I did and have this one in the process. Just got the green sensor instead of the blue. So I am waiting on a blue one.

But just wanted to make sure. Rather do it right than jack it up.

Alright,

Well I changed it. The battery was unhooked for 3 days and now it does something different. It feels like it wants to start then every 4 revolutions it seems to just let go and start over again.

Why was the battery unhooked? Have you done a throttle body adaptation?

I unhooked it to change the sensor. Always do that when working with electronics.

I try to leave the battery connected at all times. Control units do not like power interuptions.

That does nothing on a drive by cable car. Try a TBA.
