Bought a used 2002 A6 3.0 FWD and had it for about two weeks. All has been fine until this morning. I last drove the car Saturday morning.
This morning (Monday), I get in and go to start the car and it stalls. So, I try again and it stalls. Step on the gas when starting... stalls.
The engine was cold but the temperature was not (around 80 degrees in the garage). I tried this about 10 times before I gave up. Came back out a couple minutes later and it started fine. Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas? I know I did not flood it because I did not even step on the gas the first time I tried to start it. There are no codes or anything that would indicate an issue. Guess I will need to bring it in the the dealer but just thought I would ask here first. Thanks!

Sometimes in the past that has caused the "Carwash Syndrome" that makes the car flood and it just needs to dry out (cold start injector sprays fuel during start and if it isn't run for more than like 30 seconds it may not use all the fuel)

I did wash it Friday night just as you say but drove it to and from my gym on Saturday morning. It ran fine then and then just sat from mid morning on Saturday till Monday morning. Only other thing I did during this time was check the oil but I did put the stick back in all the way as far as I can tell.

Ok, think I know what caused this. I got a new key from the dealer sent to me and it looks like everything works on the key including initially starting the car but it shuts it right off. I guess this key must have something wrong with it. Welcome to high tech. The car starts fine with my other key. Go figure!
