3,100 miles in 13 days in A6 4.2
3,100 miles in 13 days in A6 4.2 recently with fuel economy as high as 27.6 mpg with cruise control set to the posted speed limit, which was as high as 65 mph.
On the other hand, when I kept up with a current model Mercedes-Benz S600, at speeds above 110 mph on an interstate highway with light traffic volume, the fuel economy dropped to about 15 mpg.
The car performed flawlessly. It was reliable, comfortable, and a pleasure to drive.
The major annoyance in driving in Canada was Audi's failure to allow switching the instrument display between miles and kilometers. A stupid decision or oversight.
I saw only a handful of Audis of any sort in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and most of them were A4s.
On the tight, twisting roads of Nova Scotia, the A6 4.2 felt big and heavy. It's happiest as a high speed cruiser.
I noticed that the automatic transmission shifts into fifth gear at 180 km/h (118 mph).
