A6 = Best in Class (more)
Hi Folks:
I was briefly involved in a thread on the Jag S-Type forum. During the "conversation", a gentleman who was part of the S-Type development team before his recent retirement let it be known that the S-Type development team considered the A6 to be the best-in-class target in terms of performance, workmanship, and value. Not the Lexus GS, not the BMW 5 series, not the MB E class etc. etc.
I think this is pretty nifty, for what it's worth ;-)

(Yes, I do lurk a bit on the Jag S, BMW, and Saab forums)

Re: A6 = Best in Class (more)
A friend of mine works for Garrett turbochargers in the U.K. A year or two ago BMW took them to see how BMW's quality management was improving Rover/Land Rover's UK manufacturing. They used several manufacturers products as yardsticks. Apparently they dismantle new cars and examine everything for defects, even things you would not ever see. If there is a scratch on the underside of a seat they count it as a defect! Guess which manufacturer was 1st. Yep, Audi.
