Yeah, yeah, I know a lot depends on the kind of accident and that these cars are not all in the same class. But really, overall, which one:
A4/S4, A6, BMW 5 series, BMW 3 series, MB E class, Volvo S60R, New Acura TL, Infiniti G35 (ugly). Any other sedan as your top choice? Don't include the A8, 7 Series or S class - too big/too much $$.

E class, 5 series, A6, Volvo, 3 series, A4/S4, Acura-G35 tie for last.
IIRC, the last crash test results I saw, the Benz was the best, followed by the 5 and the A6. I remember that the A6 had some intrusion on the drivers feet with the 40mph offset crash, while the MB and the 5 didn't.

Who cares what we think?
What do we know about crashworthiness? If you want to ask about driving qualities, or repair records, that's different.
Have you researched people who actually bang cars into objects, like the Insurance Institute and the federal gov't and Condemner Reports?

I want to know which cars allow me the most options to avoid an accident. Then I'm going to do
everything in my power to not get involved in an accident by being aware of my surroundings - this means continuing to watch my mirrors even at a light or in a parking lot.
To gain some real world info, I'd look at the insurance claims for each type/model of car. You'll see crash data and injury data. Finally I would poll emergency road crews and ER staff.

Some info here
