A6 2.7T Stage 3 : General Questions
After considering the S6 and S8 (S4 is too small for me) i think i am going to go with a 2.7T w/stage 3. I feel ill miss that stick.
-better to buy a good condition 2.7T and get it staged or buy one that has been done? (obviously lots of research required)
-how does the stage 3 sound? love the understatement of the audis. obviously this depends on cat in exhaust
-how does a stage 3 perform vs. v8 s4, 03 RS6, S6, S8?
-i want this to be my daily driver, so the last question is (if babied) how long have we seen these last?
i appreciate all of the help you have been giving me.

Pretty difficult questions to answer - especially on this forum. Try B5 S4 forum...
Question 3 - I would think it would WALK a v8 s4, S6 and S8. RS6 would be quite close I would think - you have stick, but his RS6 K04's are faster.
Someday I hope to be stage 3, but stuff has to bust first...

If your any where near CT you could drive mine. Great daily driver as boost said the RS6 would be
interesting but the others would generally be slower. As you stated there are numerous variables. How aggressive and how frequently aggressive will shorten life span. The car could last as long as you want but expect potential higher maintenance based on your driving. Nothing has ever broken in my car that could not have broken on a stock vehicle.

Might be hard to find a well-sorted Stage III 6MT in good condition...
Though it might be cheaper, since it will likely already be fitted with supporting bits and pieces (suspension, brakes, intercoolers, etc.).
If you treat the car well, it will last plenty long.
A well-sorted stage three will blow the other cars you mentioned into the weeds. Will walk away even from a chipped RS6. That's just with plain RS4-K04s.
I've got some EPL tuning for sale (good for any Stage III, Tial, or RS6 based setup), if you decide to go this route, btw...

I highly recommend it...
Mine's been stg 3 for approx 50K and is still running strong. I prefer the V6 + turbos to a V8 because 1) there are more tuning opportunities and I can never leave anything stock, 2) I live in Denver and turbos kick *** at altitude, and 3) not that this is a big deal, but mpg with V8s suck.
If you've got the money, I'd start stock and build the car the way that you want it. This is not the low-cost option!
Mine is set up with Piggie downpipes and quiet exhaust. I don't want to hear a loud exhaust all the time - this set-up works for me. If you want louder, that's easy to achieve.
Performance v. an S4 with similar tune wil be... similar. Perf v. the others - ??? Personnaly though, I'd never own an RS6 - performance may be nice, but to expensive, IMO, to maintain. In fact, if I were to buy an RS6, I'd yank the V8 and put a nice 2.7t in its place.
A stg 3 MT or Tip (mine's a Tip) makes a great daily driver!
