AC problems. AC automatically switches to ECON while in auto mode.

AC problems. AC automatically switches to ECON while in auto mode.
When I run the AC in the normal outside air (auto and manual) mode, it automatically switches to econ(no cool air, compressor not engaged). However, if I switch it to recirculate, the compressor comes on and begins cooling the air. Fuses are fine, no leaks in the system and refrigerant levels are fine. Any ideas?

If you don't hit the econ button on the climate controls is the AC on all the time even if heat is..
