Default Airbag Module repair - See www.myairbag.com

I do not represent this company but found them researching an airbag module problem for a friend with an Audi A6 that the dealer was charging a fortune to replace.I have no experience with them. Use them at your own risk.

Default No way I'd trust a 'repaired' airbag module...

...after a deployment, the module is electronically locked, requiring replacement. That's one thing I sure wouldn't cheap on. :/

Default What if it's never been deployed? How is it any different than fixing an ABS module?

The common failures are probably similar.

The actual problem after a deployment is that the one-time use igniters have been used. These would need to be replaced, and I'm not sure if the parts are even available (airbag control modules are not to be repaired).

That said, I probably wouldn't trust a "repaired" one either if they're messing with the software in it since they might be able to trick it into thinking the igniters are OK when they they aren't.

if the ABS fails you can still use brakes, if SRS fails to react you might be dead

Default Bingo, just not something I would risk cheaping on.

I did buy a used airbag controlled out of an Avant that was rear-ended (no deployments at all, not even the belt pre-tensioners). If coded fine and throws no codes; used, but still good...and I saved ~500 bucks.

Default Same here; it'll definitely throw codes if the igniters have been used...

unless it's been tampered with. I trusted a used one enough to choose it over paying $675 more for a new one.
