Another Tire Problem ...
Picked up my new 2.7t Monday and drove it home. Went Tues night to get snows installed and they noticed a tire picked up a screw. It is in the bottom of the tire and not the sidewall. It did not go all the way through. Pulled the screw out and it is one of those screws to attach interior panels in VW's.
My concern is that although it did not all the way through, water will get in and belts rust causing delamination. I called my salesman and he says he will try to get me a new tire. We will see.
Any thoughts on future problems if the tire is not replaced.

no problem
There are no steel belts in your tires anyway, so they can't rust. Despite the "steel belted radials" stuff of the late 70s/80s, no radials actually used steel plys until the Goodyear F1 steel last year. All used rayon or aramids (Kevlar). Only very few tires use steel plys so far, and I don't think your stock (altough sport) tires are on the short list.
