I'm relatively new to the forum (as well as a new owner of a 1999 A6, 2.8 Tip), and am in the process of doing this same swap.

Thus far, from the few posts I've ran across on this - and other - forums, the biggest "headache" is going to be swapping the single-DIN cage out for a double-DIN cage (common in the Avant series A6's, from my understanding).

*NOTE* - All you 'old school' Audi owners that have been here for a while, if I'm misrepresenting some of this data, PLEASE feel free to correct me. I'm not opposed to that in the least!!

Ok, so at this point, I believe I've put together the stuff I need to do everything. Here's my 'short list' of items, and I hope this helps anyone that wants to attempt this:

Stereo equipment-

Kenwood DDX6019 6.95" Wide Double-DIN Indash Monitor DVD/WMA/MP3 Receiver
KDC-C719 10-Disc CD Changer
Kenwood KCA-BT100 Bluetooth Hands-Free Unit
Kenwood KNA-G510 Navigation system
SIR-KEN1 SIRIUS Satellite Radio tuner

Here are the car-specific things I have, as well:

-2000 Audi A6 Avant radio/climate control mount. (The part number is 4B0 858 005 L, and was purchased from Ebay for about $20)
-HVAC controls from a 2002 Audi Allroad. (The part number is 4B0 820 043AD) This was purchased from my local junkyard for $50 (which was infinitely LESS than the $200-$300 I've seen people quoting)
-Scosche AU2380B Single/Double DIN kit
-Metra 40VW12 Antenna adapter. I would have gotten the amplified antenna adapter, but I truly don't listen to standard radio. I might opt for it later on down the line, but this was waaay cheaper for now.
-Scosche VW05B wiring harness. Now, originally I was going to go for a plug-and-play wiring harness:

Enfig PNP-KEN0016 EnfigCarStereo.com

But after reading their compatibility spreadsheet and actually calling the company, it was determined that their harness would not - due to the pinout of the radio plug - work for my particular radio. The website also mentioned a wiring harness (SRWH-AUD2-NS) that "fixes the low rear audio and low sub problem". If that becomes the case, then I'll go ahead and purchase that harness. but for now, the Scosche harness was the least expensive option.

Now, during my research, I've run across a couple of posts where people have either attempted this retrofit and just 'talked about it' (I did this back in the day and it looks dope! ), or people that have already done it and posted pictures after the fact (here's the completed pic after I spent 2-3 days doing this, bro! ). As a longtime, self-proclaimed "forum *****", I fully realize that pictures are worth more than words. That being said, I'm going to attempt to post pics of my install - before, during, and after - as time and technology permits. I may also post this on other Audi websites to help others.

Wish me luck!
